About the Sorta Mountain Stage Race
The Knobstone Trail is the backbone of this race, and it earns its reputation. The first stretch is rolling and manageable, but past that the trail turns steep, with sharp escarpments and a lot of elevation change in both directions before the route reaches the summit of Round Top Knob. Underfoot it is single track all the way, with rocks, roots, and uneven ground throughout.
Post-race, food is set out for runners, family, and volunteers. The race benefits a suicide awareness and support foundation, so the gathering at the finish carries some weight beyond the running itself.
