About the Soles for Souls 5k Trail Run

The course mixes hard-surface paths with wooded trails, so expect footing that shifts underfoot and natural obstacles along the way. It is not a road race smoothed out for strollers; the terrain changes and the tree cover gives it a different feel than anything on pavement. The race raises funds for neighbors experiencing homelessness and poverty in the area.

This edition has a costume element, with prizes going to the best-dressed in each age group alongside the timed awards. Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local brewery in Denver.

Common Questions About the Soles for Souls 5k Trail Run

Will I finish last at the Soles for Souls 5k Trail Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 31:04, and the last recorded finisher came in around 42:56, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Soles for Souls 5k Trail Run a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (31 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Soles for Souls 5k Trail Run?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:52 while the median finisher took 31:04. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
