About the Soles for Songs 5K & 10K
The course runs out and back on the Panhandle Trail, a crushed limestone rail-trail through the area. It is flat the whole way, the surface is firm and even, and the trail stays open to the public during the race, so you share the path with the occasional passerby. The race benefits a children's choir scholarship fund, which gives the morning a purpose beyond the run itself.
Packet pickup opens race morning at Helicon Brewing, where the race starts and finishes. Parking is free in their paved lot, with overflow space on the grass nearby. A coffee vendor is set up in the morning, and after you finish, the brewery opens and brings a food truck. There are also a few restaurants within walking distance if you want something different.
