About the Silver Moon Race: Kings River

The course is a short loop through farm land, passing orchards and vineyards beside the Kings River, repeated as many times as your chosen format requires. The race starts at sunset and runs through the night, so you are out there under moonlight and stars, watching the sky shift toward sunrise. The terrain is flat, and each loop brings you back through the main hub.

Camp is set up right on the course, so between efforts you can rest, eat, and cheer on other runners from your own home base. A well-stocked aid station sits at the central hub, and volunteers are there through the night. Relay teams cycle through from the same spot, which keeps the energy going even in the quietest hours before dawn.

Finish-Time Stats

Going by the 2026 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

Common Questions About the Silver Moon Race: Kings River

Will I finish last at the Silver Moon Race: Kings River?

Almost certainly not. Half the 100 Miles field finished slower than 19:54:34, and the last recorded finisher came in around 29:52:57, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Silver Moon Race: Kings River a good first 100 Miles?

It is a small race (50 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 100 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Silver Moon Race: Kings River?

The 100 Miles winner ran 2:24:31 while the median finisher took 19:54:34. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
