About the Corporal Javier Bejar Memorial Run

This memorial run honors a Reedley police officer and Marine Corps veteran killed in the line of duty. The race offers both a shorter and a longer distance option, with walk and run starts for each, so people come out at different paces and for different reasons. The mood is closer to a remembrance than a typical morning race.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at the Reedley Police Department annex on G Street, with race-morning pickup available as well. The day begins with a ceremony before the first walkers head out, which sets the tone for everything that follows.

Common Questions About the Corporal Javier Bejar Memorial Run

Will I finish last at the Corporal Javier Bejar Memorial Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.2 Miles field finished slower than 43:54, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:16:17, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Corporal Javier Bejar Memorial Run a good first 3.2 Miles?

It is a small race (135 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.2 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Corporal Javier Bejar Memorial Run?

The 3.2 Miles winner ran 23:20 while the median finisher took 43:54. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
