About the 3rd Annual Shauna Smith Heroes 5K Trail Run/Walk or 2K Trail Walk
The course runs on trail, with a hill in the middle that earns its reputation. It is not a flat park path. The surroundings are wooded and the footing is trail terrain throughout. The race is named for a local hero and organized around honoring first responders and people facing cancer, so the mood at the start tends to be heavier and warmer than a typical morning race.
Timing is available for those who want a result, and there are shorter and longer distance options on the same course.
