About the Shark Week Showdown 5K, 10K - Dallas, TX
The course runs through Beard Park, and the whole thing is dressed up in ocean and shark theming, which sounds odd for an inland park but lands well on race morning. There are several distance options, so the field ranges from kids dashing to runners pushing for a real chip-timed effort. Music plays at the start and finish, and aid stations are set up along the course.
Packet pickup happens on race morning before the start, with the window closing shortly before the gun. The kids dash goes off just before the main race. Post-race, the finish area has awards and a celebration; the overall winners take home a Bigfoot Trophy, which tells you a bit about the organizer's sense of humor.
