About the Shark Run 5k & 1 Mile Fun Run
This is a holiday race on the Gulf Coast, starting early in the morning before the heat settles in. The course goes out from The Wharf Convention Center on Canal Road, with several distance options for runners and walkers alike. The surroundings are coastal, and the early start takes advantage of the cooler air before the crowds arrive.
The finish area has a party atmosphere, with a DJ and an awards setup. Age group recognition goes fairly deep, so runners across a wide spread of ages have something to race toward. The whole event leans into the holiday occasion rather than treating it as incidental.
