About the Service Above Self 5K and Fun Run
The course starts and finishes at Travis Williams Softball Complex, heading out along New Market Road and Belt Line Road before looping back through Cartwright Road and the Travis Williams Trail near Bruton Soccer Complex. The roads are closed for the race, and the route is flat with a mix of streets and trail. A shorter out-and-back option follows New Market Road for those wanting a lighter morning.
The finish area has food trucks, local vendors, and police vehicle displays, including specialty unit exhibits. There is a separate division for officers and firefighters competing in duty gear, which gives the post-race area an interesting mix of participants. The race is organized by the Mesquite Police Association Charities, and that connection is visible throughout the morning.
