About the Serenata Shuffle

The course runs along Boise's Greenbelt, with Veterans Memorial Park serving as the hub for both the start and the finish. What makes it unusual is the live music: Serenata Orchestra musicians perform at spots along the route, so the soundtrack changes as you move through it. There is also a Maestro character on the course that runners can chase for raffle prizes.

Packet pickup happens at Fleet Feet locations in the area on the couple of evenings before race day. The race itself is a fundraiser for Serenata Orchestra, a nonprofit community orchestra that puts on free concerts throughout the year.

Common Questions About the Serenata Shuffle

Will I finish last at the Serenata Shuffle?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:53, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:08:40, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Serenata Shuffle a good first 5K?

A field of 221 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Serenata Shuffle?

The 5K winner ran 19:31 while the median finisher took 35:53. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
