The race starts at Fire Headquarters with a memorial ceremony, including an Honor Guard and the traditional ringing of the four fives bell sequence to honor fallen first responders. The course is timed and runs through Middletown. At the finish, each participant can ring a memorial bell, which gives the crossing a quieter, more deliberate feeling than most finish lines.
