About the Sentinel Flurry

The Sentinel Flurry is a winter race in Golden with several distance options, including a combo that stacks both distances back to back. The course maps are posted by the organizers, but the overall feel here is a cold-morning neighborhood run, the kind that draws families out in their layers.

Bib pickup opens before the first wave, with the shorter distance going off first and the longer one following shortly after. Hot chocolate is waiting at the finish, which on a cold winter morning is exactly the right call.

Common Questions About the Sentinel Flurry

Will I finish last at the Sentinel Flurry?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 9:46, and the last recorded finisher came in around 22:52, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Sentinel Flurry a good first 1 Miles?

It is a small race (102 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Sentinel Flurry?

The 1 Miles winner ran 5:23 while the median finisher took 9:46. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
