About the Seattle CF StairClimb

This one is not a road race at all. Participants climb the stairs inside T-Mobile Park, going up and down through the stadium's upper seating section. There are a couple of distance options, and waves are seeded by self-reported pace, so sprinters go out ahead of joggers and walkers. The challenge is purely vertical, and your legs will know it.

After the climb, the post-race gathering moves to a nearby venue called The Hall on Occidental. It is a proper after party, not just a water table, so there is reason to stick around once you have finished the stairs.

Common Questions About the Seattle CF StairClimb

Will I finish last at the Seattle CF StairClimb?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 16:46, and the last recorded finisher came in around 29:51, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Seattle CF StairClimb a good first race?

A field of 229 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Seattle CF StairClimb?

The race winner ran 9:37 while the median finisher took 16:46. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.

Where can I train for the Seattle CF StairClimb?

Join a local run club. Club Northwest, Seattle Running Club, West Seattle Running Club and others in Seattle welcome runners of all paces, and a weekly group run is the most reliable way to hold a training block together.
