About the Salty Santa 5K
The course runs through the tunnels of an active salt mine, several hundred feet below the surface. The air is cool and the lighting is dim, so you will want a headlamp or flashlight and a helmet, both of which you bring yourself. Costumes are encouraged, and most people show up in something seasonal.
Heats are small and staggered, so the tunnels never feel crowded. Packet pickup happens at the mine before your heat, and the race asks you to arrive a bit early to get sorted and have your gear inspected before heading underground.
