About the 5K Monster Dash
The course runs through a working salt mine, dropping far below the surface into tunnels that stay dark and still year-round. Lanterns mark the way, but you will want a headlamp and a helmet, both required. The walls are salt, the air is cool, and the route winds through passages that see almost no daylight. It is genuinely unlike any road race.
Runners choose a starting heat at registration, and packets are picked up on race morning before your heat begins. Costumes are encouraged, and the whole event benefits the underground salt museum that hosts it.
