About the Salt Creek 24

Salt Creek Recreation Area hugs the coastline, and the course loops the park on a short circuit through old-growth evergreens, thick ferns, and patches of coastal moss. Remnants of World War II fortifications appear along the way. The format is open: run or walk as much or as little as you want over the full event window, solo or as part of a relay.

A stocked aid station runs through the night, with extra treats during the harder hours. Camping is available at the park, and runners planning to stay on course continuously can stage out of a vehicle or set up a small canopy near the start area instead.

How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Oct 25, 2026.

Common Questions About the Salt Creek 24

Will I finish last at the Salt Creek 24?

Almost certainly not. Half the race field finished slower than 15:45, and the last recorded finisher came in around 25:15, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Salt Creek 24 a good first race?

It is a small race (76 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first race, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Salt Creek 24?

The race winner ran 3:45 while the median finisher took 15:45. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
