About the Clallam County Turkey Trot

The course runs along the Olympic Discovery Trail from Hollywood Beach, an out-and-back on pavement close to the water. There is no significant climbing to worry about, so the footing is straightforward regardless of your pace. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, and people do show up in costume.

Bib pickup is at the start area on race morning, so there is no separate trip the day before. Representatives from local food banks are on-site before the gun, accepting canned goods and pantry staples if you want to bring something along.

Common Questions About the Clallam County Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Clallam County Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3 Miles field finished slower than 42:32, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:21:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Clallam County Turkey Trot a good first 3 Miles?

A field of 282 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Clallam County Turkey Trot?

The 3 Miles winner ran 18:50 while the median finisher took 42:32. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
