About the SAK Strong 5K Run/Walk
The course runs out and back along the Peabody Independence Greenway, a mix of pavement and hard-packed trail, starting and finishing at Lt. Ross Park. The terrain is straightforward, with a single water stop along the way. The race honors Chris Sakelakos, who died after a long fight against bone cancer, and the post-race atmosphere reflects that.
Packet pickup the evening before is in a pub parking lot nearby, which keeps race-morning lines short. Parking at the park itself is limited, with overflow at a school a short walk away. After you finish, food trucks, a beer garden, lawn games, raffles, and a live band fill out the rest of the morning.
