About the Saddleback Oktoberfest 5k
The course climbs a ski mountain, gaining serious elevation before turning back down to finish at the base lodge. It is a genuine alpine effort, the kind of thing road runners do not often see, with open views over the Rangeley Lakes and the surrounding hills at their fall-foliage peak. The terrain is mountain terrain, and the climb is the whole point.
Bib pickup is on the lodge deck the morning of the race. Afterward, entry into the Oktoberfest festival and a lift ticket to ride back up and look at the views are both part of the deal, so there is no rush to leave once you finish.
