About the Running With Padre 5K

The course runs through the streets of Youngsville, starting and finishing on the grounds of St. Anne's Church. The route passes through the surrounding neighborhood, so it has the feel of a parish road race rather than a park loop. Proceeds go toward preserving and expanding the church itself, which gives the morning a purpose beyond the finish line.

Packet pickup is the evening before at the parish hall on Church Street, with race-morning pickup available if you cannot make it. The start area has music, snacks, face painting, and inflatable jumps, so families with younger kids have something to do before and after the race.

Common Questions About the Running With Padre 5K

Will I finish last at the Running With Padre 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 19:01, and the last recorded finisher came in around 47:08, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Running With Padre 5K a good first 1 Miles?

It is a small race (141 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Running With Padre 5K?

The 1 Miles winner ran 6:53 while the median finisher took 19:01. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
