About the 17th Annual Running of the Turkeys - 5K Run/Walk/Stroller Jog
The course runs through York's historic downtown, so the surroundings are old storefronts and sidewalks rather than a park or trail. It is a Thanksgiving morning race, which gives the start area a particular energy, and the pace of the field tends to reflect that, with strollers alongside runners.
The race is rooted in two local churches and raises money and food donations for area nonprofits. Packet pickup the evening before is a good moment to bring canned goods, though donations are also welcome on race morning itself.
