The course follows the Santa Cruz River path as an out-and-back, so the terrain is a shared-use paved trail the whole way. It is flat and straightforward, well-marked with ground signs. The surroundings are the river corridor, which gives the run an open, unhurried feel away from traffic.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local recreation center, with race-morning pickup available as well. After the run, there is a cider toast to moms, plus face painting, a photo booth, and lawn games in the start area, so families tend to stick around.
