About the Run With The Wild

Run With The Wild takes place on the Seeley Creek Trails, a network that puts you on proper singletrack through the woods rather than on pavement. The distances stack from short to long, so there are options for runners of different ambitions, and strollers and leashed dogs are welcome on course.

After the race, there is a free pancake breakfast for participants, an awards ceremony, and prize drawings. It is the kind of post-race spread that keeps people around long after they finish, and the atmosphere on the trail system reflects that.

Common Questions About the Run With The Wild

Will I finish last at the Run With The Wild?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1K field finished slower than 7:54, and the last recorded finisher came in around 13:21, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run With The Wild a good first 1K?

It is a small race (37 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run With The Wild?

The 1K winner ran 4:09 while the median finisher took 7:54. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
