Hamden, CT
This is a Thanksgiving morning race in Hamden, and the costumes are a genuine part of it. Turkey hats, tutus, full pilgrim outfits, people take the invitation seriously. The start comes early enough that you are done and back home well before the rest of the day takes over. A portion of entry fees goes to Hamden Community Services, which runs local food distribution and emergency assistance programs.
