About the Run the Line Half Marathon

The course starts in downtown Texarkana and crosses the state line into Arkansas before looping back, so you are technically running in two states. Part of the route goes through city parks on wide asphalt trails, and part runs along coned-off city streets through residential neighborhoods. There are several long inclines, and musicians are posted along the way. The finish is back downtown, in front of a local ice house.

Packet pickup is the day before at the Bi-State Justice Building, one block east of the starting line, so it is easy to swing by and walk the start area while you are there. On race morning, parking is available along Broad Street, Texas Blvd, and Front Street. The organizers ask that you skip the church lots nearby.

Common Questions About the Run the Line Half Marathon

Will I finish last at the Run the Line Half Marathon?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 2:19:44, and the last recorded finisher came in around 3:58:13, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run the Line Half Marathon a good first 13.1 Miles?

A field of 374 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run the Line Half Marathon?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:17:45 while the median finisher took 2:19:44. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
