The race starts and finishes outside a wine and liquor store, which sets the tone for the morning. Runners show up in Santa hats, ugly sweaters, and elf costumes, and the organizers encourage it. Santa himself is on hand at the start. The route goes through Mentor, though the course terrain is not described in detail.
