About the Run, Run Rudolph 5k

The course runs from the Guernsey County Courthouse through downtown Cambridge and into a residential neighborhood before looping back to where it started. Starting in the evening means the courthouse surroundings are lit up as you finish, which fits the race's connection to the local light show. The terrain is road running through town, mostly level.

Packet pickup opens on race day a couple of hours before the start, right at the courthouse. Walk-up registration is also available that afternoon. Cookies and snacks are set out at the finish line, along with bottled water.

Common Questions About the Run, Run Rudolph 5k

Will I finish last at the Run, Run Rudolph 5k?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 36:16, and the last recorded finisher came in around 59:45, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run, Run Rudolph 5k a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (118 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run, Run Rudolph 5k?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 18:18 while the median finisher took 36:16. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
