About the Run or Walk the Rounds for Nursing 5K

The course runs through the trail network inside Centennial Park, so you are in trees and green space rather than on open roads. The terrain is relatively gentle, and the park setting keeps things shaded in spots. It is put on by the local Rotary Club to raise scholarship money for area students heading into nursing.

Packet pickup happens race morning in the soccer field parking lot at the park, so you are already where you need to be when you arrive. Age group awards include caps, insulated tumblers, and gift certificates for the top finishers in each category.

Common Questions About the Run or Walk the Rounds for Nursing 5K

Will I finish last at the Run or Walk the Rounds for Nursing 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 33:56, and the last recorded finisher came in around 53:11, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Run or Walk the Rounds for Nursing 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (44 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Run or Walk the Rounds for Nursing 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 22:41 while the median finisher took 33:56. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
