About the 2026 Run For Sight 5K

The course runs along Pere Marquette Park on Lake Michigan, so you have open water beside you for most of the route. The terrain is flat and the setting is wide open, with beach and sky in every direction. The race benefits an organization that supports people with low vision and blindness, and sighted guides are available for runners who need one.

Packet pickup runs the evening before at a vision care office on Sherman Boulevard, with a second window on race morning at the parking lot near the Coast Guard Station. Parking at Pere Marquette requires a paid daily pass, and the kiosks take both cards and coins.

Common Questions About the 2026 Run For Sight 5K

Will I finish last at the 2026 Run For Sight 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 3.1 Miles field finished slower than 30:23, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:09:37, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the 2026 Run For Sight 5K a good first 3.1 Miles?

It is a small race (89 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 3.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the 2026 Run For Sight 5K?

The 3.1 Miles winner ran 17:33 while the median finisher took 30:23. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
