The Retro Run takes place on an evening in downtown Ocala, which keeps the heat a little more manageable than a morning start. The costume angle is real: runners show up in old-school gear, short shorts and canvas sneakers included, and there is a best-dressed award alongside the usual age group results. Dogs are not allowed on the course, though leashed dogs are welcome along the sidelines.
