About the First-Gen 5k

The race starts at the Baseline Road Trailhead in Ocala and benefits first-generation college students, with proceeds going toward local scholarship foundations. Pace groups are available for a spread of abilities, and chip timing is used throughout. The course is trail-adjacent, starting from a trailhead, so expect a natural setting rather than a purely road race feel.

The start area includes sponsor and vendor booths, music, and drinks available through the morning. Awards go to top finishers across age divisions, and a special recognition award is given to a first-generation student whose story and goals are highlighted on race day.
