About the Rancho Sahuarita Trails and Tails 5K
The route circles Sahuarita Lake, and the Doggie Dash mile version of the morning is open to dogs as well as people. The longer distance is people-only. Both start close together in the morning, so the whole thing has an unhurried, shared feel. The cause is local animal rescue, and the shelters involved are posted closer to race day.
Packet pickup opens at the Sahuarita Lake Amphitheater before the first start. After the race, vendors, food, and a dog costume contest fill out the morning. The costume contest is judged by audience applause and broken into size brackets, with a trophy and a prize basket going to the winner in each.
