Arvada, CO
The course moves between roads and paved bike paths across rolling terrain, giving the run more texture than a flat winter race tends to have. Half-marathon runners who need extra time can take an early start rather than feel rushed by a cutoff.
Hot cocoa and quesadillas off the grill wait at the finish. The race is also the final leg of a winter running series that spans a few months, so some runners arrive already midway through a season-long effort.
