About the Queen City Mile

The Queen City Mile runs through the Old First Ward, a historic Buffalo neighborhood. It is a straight-ahead, all-out effort on road where you leave nothing behind. Different heats run at separate times for kids and adults, and the course record carries a cash bonus for USATF Niagara members.

Packet pickup and registration happen inside Resurgence Brewing's beer garden before the race, and the post-race scene stays there. Cold drinks are waiting after you finish. The race raises money for youth running camp scholarships.

Common Questions About the Queen City Mile

Will I finish last at the Queen City Mile?

Almost certainly not. Half the 1 Miles field finished slower than 7:21, and the last recorded finisher came in around 12:11, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Queen City Mile a good first 1 Miles?

It is a small race (24 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Queen City Mile?

The 1 Miles winner ran 5:50 while the median finisher took 7:21. That spread points to a relatively quick field, so expect a competitive front end.
