About the 3rd Annual PPP3CA Race for Rare 5k Run/Walk
The race runs at Lake Shawnee, so the route follows park trails with water nearby and open sky above. It is untimed and volunteer-monitored, with a shorter walk option alongside the main distance, making it easy to bring the whole family regardless of pace or fitness level.
Registration opens the morning of the race, and the shelter house has air conditioning and restrooms nearby. A pancake bar runs before the start, coffee is available for purchase, and a shaved-ice truck pulls up mid-morning. There is also a silent auction, face painting for kids, and a balloon photo setup.
