About the Plantation Lakes Turkey Trot

The course runs through the Plantation Lakes neighborhood on Thanksgiving morning, looping residential streets on road surfaces. The surrounding area is a planned community, so the route is sheltered by houses and mature landscaping rather than open to traffic. There are two distance options, one a short fun run and the other longer, both starting and finishing near the Amenity Center.

Packet pickup runs the evening before the race at the Amenity Center, with race-morning pickup available as well. Parking is at the Amenity Center, with overflow on one side of Shoreward Drive. A few streets along the route are closed to parked cars since they form part of the course itself.

Common Questions About the Plantation Lakes Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Plantation Lakes Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 33:26, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:05:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Plantation Lakes Turkey Trot a good first 5K?

A field of 317 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Plantation Lakes Turkey Trot?

The 5K winner ran 17:11 while the median finisher took 33:26. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
