About the Pioneer Prairie Dog Half, 10k & 5k
The course runs on a mix of concrete and packed gravel through the Westminster Promenade area, so road shoes work fine but something with a little grip is comfortable on the gravel stretches. Strollers and dogs are welcome on course, which gives the morning a neighborhood-outing feel alongside the racing. Aid stations are spaced through the route, and energy gels appear at the later one for half marathon runners.
Packet pickup runs the evening before at a local running store nearby. Race-morning pickup opens early as well, so late registrants are not left scrambling. Parking is available in several lots around the start area, including space west of the site and at a nearby park. Bring a water bottle, as cups are not set out at the finish line, though drinking water for refills is there.
