About the Pilgrim's Turkey Trot

The course starts and finishes at Pecan Acres Park on Thanksgiving morning. It is a road race through a park setting, flat enough for all kinds of paces, and the whole event benefits the local United Way. The atmosphere runs warm, given the holiday and the cause behind it.

Packet pickup happens the evening before at the county Chamber of Commerce on North Street. If you miss that window, pickup and registration are also available race morning at the park, starting well before the gun goes off.

Common Questions About the Pilgrim's Turkey Trot

Will I finish last at the Pilgrim's Turkey Trot?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 35:05, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:10:01, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Pilgrim's Turkey Trot a good first 5K?

A field of 475 is big enough that you will have company at your pace without feeling lost in a crowd. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Pilgrim's Turkey Trot?

The 5K winner ran 18:11 while the median finisher took 35:05. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
