The course goes straight up Pikes Peak, starting in Manitou Springs and ending at the summit. There is no loop, no turnaround, just continuous climbing on mountain trail the whole way. The elevation gain is serious, and the altitude at the top will affect most runners regardless of fitness. This is a point-to-point ascent, not a road race with a hill.
