About the Peace Ranch Wilderness 5K/10K Run

The shorter distance runs on hard-packed sand roads through Pere Marquette Forest, which keeps it runnable but still feels like genuine trail. The longer distance earns its reputation with real elevation changes and quiet woods. Dogs are welcome on leash, and the ranch setting means the surroundings are open enough for families to spread out while runners are still on course.

A plaque ceremony follows the race, with top finishers recognized and their names added to a permanent record kept at the ranch. Tours of the property are available afterward. Proceeds support a veterans retreat program and a mustang rehabilitation program based at the ranch.

Common Questions About the Peace Ranch Wilderness 5K/10K Run

Will I finish last at the Peace Ranch Wilderness 5K/10K Run?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 42:52, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:32:28, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Peace Ranch Wilderness 5K/10K Run a good first 5K?

It is a small race (104 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Peace Ranch Wilderness 5K/10K Run?

The 5K winner ran 21:52 while the median finisher took 42:52. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
