The course runs through Oak Point Park, home to the Flags of Honor display, so the surroundings carry weight on their own. The route is in a park setting, and the morning opens with a color guard ceremony and the Pledge of Allegiance before the first runners head out. Proceeds go toward veteran programs and student scholarships.
The start area is at the Red Tail Pavilion. After the race there are awards, sponsor booths, food, and music on site.
