About the Paris Mountain Half Marathon Run/Hike

Paris Mountain State Park is serious trail country. The course loops through dense forest, passes several lakes with waterfalls nearby, and climbs to the park's highest points via switchbacks. The climbing is significant and spread across two distinct pushes, so expect your legs to work. The fall foliage, when it arrives, makes the exposed ridgeline sections genuinely worth the effort.

Packet pickup and the start are both at a shelter behind the main parking lot. The park gate opens early on race morning, so there is time to settle in before the gun. Aid stations are stocked with a good mix of real food, salty and sweet, plus soda and water. This is a cup-less event, so bring your own vessel.

Common Questions About the Paris Mountain Half Marathon Run/Hike

Will I finish last at the Paris Mountain Half Marathon Run/Hike?

Almost certainly not. Half the 13.1 Miles field finished slower than 3:00:03, and the last recorded finisher came in around 5:09:46, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Paris Mountain Half Marathon Run/Hike a good first 13.1 Miles?

It is a small race (176 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 13.1 Miles, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Paris Mountain Half Marathon Run/Hike?

The 13.1 Miles winner ran 1:39:34 while the median finisher took 3:00:03. That spread points to a mixed field, with a competitive front and a big recreational middle.
