The course runs through a pair of residential neighborhoods west of downtown Palm Springs, where midcentury architecture lines the streets and the mountains sit close on the horizon. The route is fully paved and goes out and back, so you see the same blocks twice. It starts behind a small shopping corridor, then moves quickly into quieter streets.
