About the Overdose Awareness 5K Run/Walk

This race runs along Dockweiler Beach, so the course is flat and open, with the ocean right there the whole way. It is organized by Phoenix House California as a memorial and awareness event for overdose loss, so the atmosphere is quiet in places and purposeful throughout. Families, people in recovery, and those who have lost someone all tend to show up together.

Parking at the beach lot is complimentary for registered participants, with entry off Imperial Highway and a day pass given at the booth. After the race, a food truck from Habit Burger, shaved ice, ice cream carts, bagels, and fruit are all on site. Day-of registration is available, though cell service at the beach can be unreliable, so signing up ahead is worth it.
