About the Ovarian Cancer 5K

This race is organized around awareness of ovarian cancer and raises funds for the Mucinous Ovarian Cancer Coalition. The field is open to walkers and strollers alongside runners, so the morning draws people of all ages and paces. Hydration is set up along the course and waiting at the finish line.

Packet pickup runs the evening before on Pitt Street, with a second window on race morning at the same location. A physical therapy team is on-site afterward for stretching and soft-tissue recovery help. The post-run party at Pitt Street OTP includes food trucks, pizza, and live music.

Common Questions About the Ovarian Cancer 5K

Will I finish last at the Ovarian Cancer 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 37:40, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:03:25, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Ovarian Cancer 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (189 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Ovarian Cancer 5K?

The 5K winner ran 17:30 while the median finisher took 37:40. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
