About the OU Food Pantry 5K

The course runs through a university campus in Norman, with the start area near a large campus library. The race benefits the campus food pantry, so the crowd tends to include students, staff, and families connected to the university. The terrain is typical of a campus setting, mostly paved and open.

Early packet pickup happens at the food pantry itself the evening before the race. On race morning, check-in opens near the library well before the start. Parking is free in open surface lots across campus, so arriving a bit early makes the morning easier.

Common Questions About the OU Food Pantry 5K

Will I finish last at the OU Food Pantry 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 5K field finished slower than 34:05, and the last recorded finisher came in around 58:16, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the OU Food Pantry 5K a good first 5K?

It is a small race (193 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 5K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the OU Food Pantry 5K?

The 5K winner ran 15:45 while the median finisher took 34:05. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
