The course runs on the American Tobacco Trail at Solite Park, a paved multi-use path through the Durham area. The surroundings are wooded enough to feel removed from the city even when you are not far from it. The event is tied to Ostomy Awareness Day, so the crowd tends to include people with a personal connection to the cause.

Race-morning packet pickup opens before the start, so there is no need to come the day before. A silent auction runs alongside the event, and an awards ceremony wraps things up before the auction closes. A kids dash is scheduled between the main run and the closing announcements.
