About the One Step Closer
The format is a timed loop event held at Lincoln Park in Seattle. Instead of a fixed distance, you pick a time window and run the loop as many times as you can before everyone finishes together at a shared finish-line party after dark. The park is described as surprisingly varied for its size, with enough terrain to keep repeated laps from feeling monotonous.
A kids' version runs separately around a baseball field, with a snack station built into the course. There is also a team competition built into registration, where small groups earn bragging rights based on how many loops they collectively complete.

Finish-Time Stats
Going by the 2025 results, this is a small, friendly field, and the spread of finish times is wide, so this is a mostly recreational race rather than one for club runners.

The One Step Closer has been held every year since at least 2025. That is as far back as RunSignup's records for this race go, so it may well be older.
How we calculate these stats: RunSesh calculates these figures from the most recent published results of past editions, sourced from RunSignup. We show aggregates only: field size, winning and median times, and the cutoff. We never publish individual finisher tables. Last updated Jul 27, 2026.
