About the Olde Towne's "Stride for Wellness" 10K & 5K

The course runs along Carter's Grove Country Road, an old paved road that the organizer describes as challenging. This is not a flat, forgettable out-and-back; the road has character, and runners who have done similar historic routes in the area know to expect some honest work from the terrain. The race benefits health and wellness access for the local community.

Check-in and same-day registration open well before the start at the James City County Government Complex on Mount's Bay Road, where parking is also available on site. Packet pickup runs the afternoon before at Olde Towne Medical and Dental Center, with a morning-of option at the start area as a backup.

Common Questions About the Olde Towne's "Stride for Wellness" 10K & 5K

Will I finish last at the Olde Towne's "Stride for Wellness" 10K & 5K?

Almost certainly not. Half the 10K field finished slower than 53:27, and the last recorded finisher came in around 1:45:26, so there is a long tail of runners behind the middle of the pack. Most fields are far slower than people expect.

Is the Olde Towne's "Stride for Wellness" 10K & 5K a good first 10K?

It is a small race (71 finishers), which is friendlier and less intimidating than a big-city event, though the field thins out. There is no qualifying time, and the finish-time spread above shows how varied the field really is. If it is your first 10K, that spread matters more than the winner's time.

How competitive is the Olde Towne's "Stride for Wellness" 10K & 5K?

The 10K winner ran 21:41 while the median finisher took 53:27. That spread points to a broad, mostly recreational field rather than a race dominated by club runners.
