About the Old First Ward Shamrock Run
The Old First Ward Shamrock Run is one of Buffalo's longest-running road races, an eight-kilometer course through a historic waterfront neighborhood on the city's south side. The route is USATF-certified, and the field tends to draw a broad mix of runners who treat it as a late-winter shakeout before spring racing season gets going.
Packet pickup runs for several days ahead of race morning at the Old First Ward Community Center on Republic Street, with race-day pickup available as well. The community center serves as the hub for the event, so the start area has a neighborhood feel rather than a stadium-scale production.
